OLANIKE: My real names are Olanike Rita Yusuf
ClassicalPromo: People like to know about the background of music in any genre. Where did the artist grow up? What are their musical influences? What inspires you?
OLANIKE: I grew up in Lagos, Nigeria and I was also born here. I am a Yoruba woman, most of my songs are either in English or Yoruba. I sing hip hop, Blues, native blues, reggae, Highlife, amongst others. The Holy Spirit is my inspiration.
ClassicalPromo: As a Gospel Singer, how would you define SUCCESS?
OLANIKE: Success is when you find favour and grace with God and man.
ClassicalPromo: What did you do before you got into the music industry?
OLANIKE: I am a training facilitator, I still run a vocational school(Divine Income Vocational Training Place), where we train people to learn different skills, develop themselves and be their own boss in skills such as make-up & gele tying, event management & decoration, beads making and wire works, fashion designing,etc. I also run a fashion house(Stitches & Designs by Nikki), where we make cloths for individuals and corporate organisations, like RCCG Parishes, New Estate Baptist School, Achilles Oil & Gas, amongst others.
ClassicalPromo: your new single folks are liking it and its also gaining more air play, what's inspiration behind it?
OLANIKE: Its God o and I give him praise and my dear husband.

ClassicalPromo: Thinking back to early childhood, what was your first experience with music for the first time like? What song do you remember most as a child?
OLANIKE: I have been singing in the church choir since I was a child. I can also remember always singing personal solos at different gatherings, birthdays,etc as a little girl, my grandma used to take me out a lot and I would render special songs at her elders group meetings in church, one of which is titled "who has made the tiny bird, its the lord"...Lol
ClassicalPromo: If you had to describe your music in two or three words, what would you call it?
OLANIKE: Gospel, Inspirational
ClassicalPromo: How much creative control do you have over your own music?
OLANIKE: 80%, then my music director/producer balances the whole work with 20%
ClassicalPromo; Do you feel the economic crunch has hurt the industry, or do you have some other promotional tips to help support your music?
OLANIKE:: Yes, its tough for gospel artists, the media are also not eager promote us, I keep praying for more recognition of gospel songs in Nigeria and the world at large. God will see us through. Amen
ClassicalPromo: If you had the opportunity to change something about the music industry what would it be?
OLANIKE: More gospel songs, more creative minds and meaningful lyrics
ClassicalPromo: What image do you think your music conveys and why did you choose this type of image for your music? ( Please, do not avoid the image issue! We want the fans to get to know you better.)
OLANIKE: A positive and good image. My songs heal and transforms people positively to the glory of God
